A Cameroon National. Peter holds a Ph.D. in Agroforestry and is the President and Chief Operating Officer of three agroforestry startups based in Africa, Mymoneytrees: www.mymoneytrees.org; ORIF: www.orif.cm and www.greenlifewa.org. He is a leader in Forest Landscape Restoration with many years of leadership in Forest Landscape Restoration; Capacity building, Coordinating Restoration Pledges by States, Implementing ROAM, Setting-up and managing networks, frontline Implementation, and conceptual development in West and Central Africa. He spends years as a Project Manager for the Congo Basin Forests and Climate; focusing on the Quantification of Carbon Stocks and Emissions from the Forests of the Congo; training, capacity building and laying groundworks for Landscape restoration; in Agroforestry Science and Practice leading innovative research and development of Agroforestry and other restoration techniques across West and Central African countries. He also has a strong track record in managing, and creating effective networks with local and international project stakeholders; e.g., an unofficial network on landscape restoration coordinating/supporting CSOs on ROAM (Liberia), Trees for the Future (Cameroon), international experts; coordinating the Rights and Resources Initiative (RRI 2008 - 2010).
He also has a proven ability to develop solid partnerships with high-level officials in West and Central African countries, including resolving conflicts between State Stakeholders (e.g. Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Pledges to the Bonn Challenge, and AFR100 restoration platforms.
He is a strong team player in project development and fund raising with very good communication skills for liaising and consulting with stakeholders at all levels in fundraising, technical support, conflict management, Gender and Equity. Prior to his current role, he led various international projects in the area of biodiversity and climate change, Forest Conservation and Management, Agroforestry and Land Use Change in prestigious international organizations such the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, PACO/Forest Program, Tetra Tech ARD, World Resources Institute, World Agroforestry Center, WWF-Korup Project and funded by USAID, EU, IFAD, African Develipent Bank with a combined value of more than $60 Million.
He has published in the fields of Forest Conservation and Management, Agroforestry and Land Use Change. Peter is a BEASI’s Board Member and Senior Advisor and will provide technical backstopping in establishing and the implementation of a broad acre integrated agricultural and bioenergy development project in Africa focusing on Pongamia value chain development in Africa.
